4/23/11

This is what my day consisted of. Preparing for what was the busiest and most stressful week of my college career thus far (four midterms and a million things due), I started studying chem early. I opened the book to the chapter I needed to start, and this is what greeted me. Absolutely detrimental to my concentration and motivation!

4/24/11

Happy Easter! I didn't go home like (literally) everyone else on campus did. I was lonely and stressed with studying all alone, so my Dad drove down to visit for a few hours. It really meant a lot and we spent all our time walking around the gorgeous spring campus. It was a beautiful day and really helped calm me down and de-stress me a lot. (And my Dad brought me an Easter basket from the Easter bunny - score!!) Here, I snapped one of him smelling some lilacs near my dorm.

Beautiful tree and tulips in a small courtyard near my dorm. I love spring.

Very interestingly colored tulip!

Beginning a week of cool, rainy weather, this is the sky that greeted us Monday evening. The clouds have awesome texture and you can see the remnants of the sunset behind them.

My sunflower plants leaning toward the sun. They are getting so big so fast!

4/26/11

So pretty! Cool color coordination.

4/27/11

Rainy day on campus. I liked the way this petal looked against the wet pavement.

Whatever these grasses are, they always catch water droplets in a really cool way. They must have a somewhat waxy surface.

4/28/11

After a day that completely fried my brain, Anna came over to watch our Thursday show lineup. The Office (Michael Scott's last episode ever!! So sad), Parks and Rec, and 30 Rock. NBC has some great shows. I mentioned to Anna that I needed a picture still for the day and she did this. So I took a picture.

4/29/11

The tree outside of our window that has been bare for months. So refreshing to see green.

The Oval has absolutely burst out with lush grass and big leaves on the trees. It seems like it happened overnight. I'm so happy things are alive again.

4/22/11

Beautiful pink flowering bush right outside of my dorm. I love all the petals on the ground!
Blog update 2 of 2.

4/9/11

A little path leading down to Mirror Lake (on the right) from the library. I was leaving work and wanted to capture all the flowers blooming. When you walk down it, it's like you are surrounded by flowery perfume. So nice.

Blue hyacinths and daffodils.

Another pretty picture from the walkway!

4/10/11

This day was the nicest day we've had since summer by far. It was in the mid-80s and sunny and breezy. Amazing!! It put everyone in such a good mood. I laid out on the oval for a good 4+ hours (along with hundreds of other people) and actually ended up getting a little sunburned. This is the sky while I was laying out. I thought the clouds looked really interesting!

Attempting to capture the mass amounts of people on the oval. Didn't do as good a job as I'd hoped, but you get the picture. It was packed - and everyone was wearing swimsuits and playing frisbee! So fun.

As a part of a campaign for someone running for student government, they set up hundreds of blue and silver pinwheels in the South Oval. They sparkled in the sun and spun in the wind. It was really neat!

4/11/11

It rained a lot this day. I thought the trees blooming made for a nice bright picture, though.

4/12/11

Rain...again. Does it ever stop?? (No, not in April...)

4/13/11

I love flower close ups!

4/14/11

In a great mood leaving a chem quiz I studied hard for and did well on. The trees outside of the chem buildings have been beautiful for weeks! (These are the same trees as in the rainy picture looking from up high on the 12th)

4/15/11

Home! I went to Zack's and took a picture of Stanley cuddlin' up in his new bed. It has little hearts on it. Dawww!

4/16/11

Driving to Zack's and it started POURING (see black cloud) but literally 2 minutes later, the sun came out (see blue sky). I took this from my car window. Crazy Ohio spring weather.

4/17/11

Those blue flowers in our backyard I mentioned in the previous post!

I played with Freddy in our old kitty condo. He's so cute!! :)

4/18/11

Same flowering tree I took a picture of on the 7th - now transformed to leaves!

I love tulips. :)

4/19/11

Thought it would be interesting to take the same picture as last Tuesday - it was raining on both days, but in this picture, the pink trees have completely began blooming, whereas a week ago there was no sign of anything but white! Crazy how fast things move in spring.

4/20/11

Mmm, golden oreos. My favorite. (And chemistry in the background - not my favorite.)

4/21/11

Spent some time on the Oval with Anna today and saw the cutest pair of doggies running around and playing with each other. This was one of them chasing a football. :)

Okay, I know my blog updates are becoming rather seldom lately...but at least I am still taking pictures every day. I'm going to again split this mass of pictures up into two updates. Be prepared for spring pictures galore. (Finally!)

(Also, it should be noted that I started updating this days ago but it was taking too long so I never finished. Maybe this is a sign that it would just be easier to update every few days...hrmm...)

3/24/11

Happy Birthday to Zack! :) We celebrated his 19th at his Mom's house with some family...including cousin Alanna, pictured above. She's the one we babysat over winter break.  She's at the stage where she's learning rapidly and being very vocal about it - when I came over that day, she started yelling my name! (When over winter break, we couldn't even get her to say it once) She obviously remembered my name, just hadn't wanted to say it until then. She's so cute. I caught her in mid-talking or -eating here!

Singing happy birthday. :) He looks so happy and cute!

3/25/11

I stayed at my Dad's this night and our local fresh grocery store opened for the spring the day before, so of course we had to stop in! It's one of my favorite places - great produce and bulk candy, small little place, fair prices, and lots of food and coffee samples whenever we go.  It's called Shaffer's Market (obviously) and it's only a few minutes away from my Dad. Love it!

3/26/11

Ha ha, I love this picture of Stanley. So silly. He sticks his tongue out when he is happy. :)

3/27/11

Back in Cbus - so long, spring break. I made my spring quarter schedule into a little notecard so I knew where to go the next day for classes.

3/28/11

Back to the grind! I love sunrises. I took this at 7:30 am the first day of classes Monday morning (ugh). I honestly haven't gotten up that early on a consistent basis since high school - fall and winter quarters my classes were either 9:30 or 10:30 am to start with. This quarter, Emily and I decided to take Stats at 8:30. Yuck. They say you shouldn't take classes that early in college and I know why now. It's impossible to ever get to bed at a decent hour anymore (it's college!) so we're perpetually tired. Oh well, we tried it - never again now that we know.

3/29/11

It's amazing how spring-like Columbus was (and still is) compared to Akron. Things started taking off here right when spring quarter started. Daffodils are all over campus. Good thing, too, since they are my favorite flowers. :)

3/30/11

Haaaaappy biiiiiirthday tooo meee! :) Zack and my Dad came down to visit the whole day and it made me soooo happy. It really meant a lot. And they both brought me my favorite things - flowers! Zack's are on the left. They were GORGEOUS. And they lasted forever - I just threw them out a couple of days ago, so it's been a good three weeks. My dad brought daffodils, also gorgeous! Sadly did not last as long, though. I'm such a girl for loving flowers!

Also, my dad made me a ton of red velvet cupcakes (the 2 red containers) AND a cake for my birthday. Mmmm.

Ian sent me Insomnia Cookies that evening as a present as well. Check the website - they deliver hot, fresh cookies to your door! What could be better?! We love them down here. Anyway, I was just getting my horrible cold (that lasted almost two weeks!!) on my birthday and Ian felt bad that I was sick so he sent these to make me feel better. This is the message he attached! :)

3/31/11

This is an area that I walk through every day and I was amazed to already see the trees budding green at the end of March.  They were one of the first to start down here and I've watched them progress as the weeks have gone on.

I should know what these are called but I can't remember (hyacinths?). :( They are everywhere, in all different colors, along with the daffodils. So pretty!

4/1/11

There's a huuuge patch of daffodils on one side of the oval near the Faculty Club. A good two to three times the size of what this picture shows!

So pretty. I love my birth flower.

4/2/11

I ended up calling off work this morning because my cold/sinus infection/whatever it was (never found out) was pretty bad. In order to have my absence be excused, I had to walk 20 minutes (on a cold day when I was sick - what sense does that make??) to the MinuteClinic in the local CVS and get a doctor's note. Ugh. On the way back, though, I took this picture looking south down High Street toward downtown. I thought it was cool. Campus is on the right and you can see the tall buildings waaaay far back in the picture.

Rainbow! See the left and right sides? I got the perfect view from my window after it poured rain after I returned from the clinic. So pretty!

4/3/11

Our new pretty door decorations for spring!

A close up of the pretty pink carnations in Zack's bouquet. They smelled so good!

4/4/11

This day looked ominous from the start. I took this before my second class.

...The result of the above picture, taken (luckily) from my window. Heavy April showers!

4/5/11

The clouds this day were gorgeous and looked so cool reflected on some of the buildings on campus.

Love this pic! This is the Architecture building.

4/6/11

The sky was so pretty this evening. Again, reflected in some of the buildings.

Ignore the decapitated resin bear (I dropped and broke a little bear made of resin my dad gave me - his head popped off).  I just liked the worm. Emily always called me Chlo-worm. :)

4/7/11

Happy Spring! It was gorgeous this day. I love these little blue flowers (they are all over our backyard at home) and the cute little ladybug in the middle.

Beautiful tree blooming in the oval - it smelled like spring!

4/8/11

I planted a couple sunflower seeds in a small pot to grow in our room to add a little life (aside from Ocean the fish, who is still alive and kickin', if you're wondering!).  They sprouted so quickly in this jar my mom gave me! (It's a 20+ year old peanut butter jar! How funny.)  They are even bigger now - I had to transplant them.

More in the next post!
