5/23/11

Relaxing in the late afternoon near Mirror Lake with Anna. So pretty! It was windy and we kept getting sprayed by the fountain, even though we were sitting pretty far away. It was hot, though, so we didn't mind.

Ah, my annual Old Navy flip flop haul. They always have a $1 flip flop sale every spring, and it's just easier to buy a few pairs for so cheap since I wear them all summer long and they're worn out by the end. I got some pretty fun colors this year! And I'm glad I did - I had to really work to get them. The Old Navy closest to OSU is about a 7 or 8 minute car drive, or a 15 min bus ride. The only problem is - I don't have a car down here (obviously), and the bus runs every hour or so and I hate waiting. You can walk it in like 25-30, or do what I do and ride your bike for 10-15. The actual sale was Saturday, and I rode over there (at 11 am, mind you - it wasn't even later in the day!) and they were completely wiped out. All they had left were white (and no one likes white flip flops - they get dirty so fast!). I mean, you usually get to the sale earlier in the day, but I've never seen the Old Navys at home get cleaned out so fast.  So naturally, I bought 5 white pairs to reserve my $1 price. I rode back there Tuesday, when they got all restocked, and was able to get all of the colors I wanted. Totally worth it!

Not sure exactly what kind of flowers these are, but I walked past and thought they were pretty. :)

Storm! I went outside on the Oval to take some pictures of the crazy black clouds. The textures were awesome!

This is back at my room, right before it started pouring, looking out of my window. The contrast is crazy!

Been a long time, hasn't it? This update will (as usual) be a long one. :)

4/30/11

Free henna! It was Sibs Weekend at OSU so they had a bunch of cool free stuff the whole weekend, and I went with Emily and her sister to get my first henna.  The above is while the actual henna ink was still drying/cracking off on my skin, which is why it looks so dark.

This is right after the ink cracked all off. It darked somewhat overnight so it wasn't so orange. I love it! It stayed for a good week and a half.

5/1/11

Pretty little bush near my dorm that smelled really good.

5/2/11

Beautiful wysteria.

5/3/11

Climbing green vines in an unexpected place - right on the "bad" part of High Street just south of campus.

5/4/11

First bowl of strawberries of the (almost) season - and they were delicious!

5/5/11

Remember those pictures I took a few posts ago of the white and pink trees outside of the chemistry buildings? These are those same trees now. So green!

5/6/11

Home for the weekend! Just after a heavy rain/storm, the bright orange sunset was reflected in someone's windows.

5/7/11

Spring beauties in the backyard! We get a huge patch of them every year. I love how tiny they are, and how when you get up close, you can see tints of purple and pink in their delicate petals.

Launching the sailboat!! You know what that means? It's almost summer! And my poor car is still able to haul the 16' Satori. She's a trooper!

Hours later, she's finally docked in the lake at my Dad's apartment. We had some mishaps getting her in (but that happens every year), but so good to see her all set for a sail again.

5/8/11

Happy Momma's Day! My mom brought me back to Columbus and I gave her the grand tour of OSU. She loved it! Pictured above are water droplets glistening in the sun.

The view of south campus and downtown from the 11th floor of Thompson Library. Very cool! Glad my Mom got to enjoy this beautiful day on campus with me. I had a great time! :)

5/9/11

We have some odd-looking ducks that live on Mirror Lake...

5/10/11

1/2 price frappuccino day at Starbucks! I tried a Mocha Coconut for the first time...it was AMAZING. If you like coconut and/or coffee, try it. Mmm, oh so summery.

5/11/11

I volunteered at the Denman (the undergrad research forum) this day. Here is a view of a small portion of all of the research displayed!

5/12/11

Resting in the Numbers Garden before Spanish class. (This is right by all the math buildings - go figure)

It was reeeeally hot this day later on. Anna and I sat by Mirror Lake and dipped our legs in the little bubbly pool for awhile. The water was freezing, but felt good!

5/13/11

Nose piercing!! Emily and I got them done together the evening before, but I waited to take a picture until some of the redness went away the next day. I've wanted this done for sooo long and I love it so much! So glad we finally did it. :)

Not the best pic of me, but just to show it off.

5/14/11

Went to study for a bit in the library and sat in the Grand Reading Room. It overlooks the Oval and is one gorgeous place to study, let me tell you. I want to have a small library in my house that looks just like this.

5/15/11

Studying chemistry some more...a close up of some problems in my book. I was bored.

5/16/11

Favorite pop of all time. Mmmm!

5/17/11

Haha, Emily and her Cinderella dress. She went to a party that was Disney Princess themed. She is such the princess!

5/18/11

Went to see the guys from Modern Family (Cam, Mitch, and Phil, from left to right) talk and do an inform interview onstage to some OSU kids. We even ended up meeting Cam and Mitch! It was a lot of fun.

5/19/11

Haha - Emily's bear, Norbert, lying face down on her bed. I just thought this was funny.

5/20/11

Beautiful pink flowers with drops of rain.

Love this!

Think we have enough food?

5/21/11

Zack is here to visit! Sitting by Mirror Lake, we spotted a caterpillar floating on the water. We immediately went into rescue mode...

Saved him!

Walking down High Street, I noticed a hybrid COTA bus. What!?! Props, COTA. I had no idea.

5/22/11

We went to the Short North to get Jeni's Ice Cream. SOOO GOOD. It was ridiculously hot again, which is why the line is so long here. This was after we had gotten (and finished) our ice cream. I meant to take a picture, but it was so good, I forgot. We got a trio with Ugandan Vanilla Bean, The Milkiest Chocolate in the World, and Lemon & Blueberries. Check out the flavors on the website. They are all so unique and delicious.

It rained/stormed, but then the sun came out and we got a double rainbow! Look closely...

The sunset after the rainbow.

Today's picture coming later - I haven't snapped it yet!
